Questions and Answers

What is your day job?

I’m the founder and managing director of in2being, LLC. We’re the “engine” under the hood that develops and clears medical devices for many leading startups, inventors, and larger companies.

Why do you enjoy what you do?

It’s simply beautiful to watch what the great people on our team and on our clients’ teams can do together when you remove the traditional barriers to getting things done.

How has your participation in MedHealth initiatives, such as steering committees, matchmaking events, and working groups, benefited you and your organization?

A wise king once said “cast your bread upon the waters”… and part of me sometimes goes… “I don’t want to… I could really use that bread right now!” But investing in what will help the community without an immediate expectation of return inevitably pays back in ways that are better and more amazing than immediate returns. The professional connections, opportunities for collaboration, and contracts that have come from working with MedHealth have been wonderful and have grown our business.

What is one thing in healthcare that you’re excited about in the next five years?

Pain can always be a catalyst for change, and COVID-19 brought a lot of pain. As we start to see it in the rearview mirror, we’ll notice how short-term focused we can be in healthcare and how unprepared we were as a country. Needed resources weren’t there, and truth be told, we’re already forgetting some of the lessons learned. Nevertheless, I’m hopeful that organizations like MedHealth working with people of good faith and long-term vision can use the fertile ground of what we’ve learned to craft more holistic and efficient approaches for the future.

If you could choose anyone as a mentor, who would you choose?

I’m blessed to have access to some of the greatest minds in our business, so I’m not wanting for amazing mentors I can call any time. I’m not particularly special in that regard, though. Our region has many experienced industry mentors, and they’re friendly and generally willing to help if you’ll just reach out and take the time to get to know them!

What’s one thing—either industry related or not—you learned in the last month?

The history of the Red Delicious apple. It’s not pretty. You’ve been warned.

What’s one must-have that gets you through your workday?

Prayer
