Earlier this month, MedHealth participated in Michigan Tech Week (MTW) and Black Tech Weekend (BTW), two gatherings that celebrated emerging innovation in the Mitten State. Medical technology was only one of the many types of technology represented, but there was a consistent theme of community impact woven throughout these events.
MTW brought together more than 70 speakers, facilitated learning, and networking opportunities for startups. One event highlight was the eLab AI Launchpad, a pitch competition focused on supporting early-stage Michigan AI startups in kickstarting their ventures. A select number of founders were given an opportunity to pitch their company to a panel of judges in front of a live audience. This year’s winner was CircNova, Inc., a biotechnology startup that leverages AI to use circular RNA for therapeutic development. We’re proud to support their work through our affiliation with TechTown!
BTW was a two-day event overflowing with energy, underscoring the significance of backing Black tech founders and their capacity to advance communities in a more equitable manner. The event closed with the Venture 313 celebration, a swanky reception commemorating the platform’s one-year anniversary providing the capital, coaching, and community for startups. We especially enjoyed seeing MedHealth executive board member, ‘Tember Shea of ID Ventures, share closing remarks at the event.
It was a privilege to engage with entrepreneurs, investors, and thought leaders who support one another in Michigan’s technology startup community. We can’t wait to see what comes next!
