LGBTQ+ Healthcare: Contending with a Spectrum of Needs, Challenges, and Supports

We sat down with Giacomo “Jack” DeChellis of Beaumont Health to ask him about his experience with the healthcare system as an administrative employee, as the founder of a thriving and innovative LGBTQ+ employee resource group, as an activist with the Human Rights Campaign, and as an aging gay man. His perspective and personal experience focus the spotlight on how health systems’ struggles with communication and a lack of modern, consistent physician training are impacting quality of care. MedHealth Welcomes Sukhi Ajimal and Demi Wang

There are two new faces on the MedHealth team!
Research expert Sukhi Ajimal is offering one-on-one counsel to healthcare entrepreneurs in our network. He has extensive experience organizing clinical research studies, performing study enrollments, and managing research teams. Sukhi is available to meet with innovators interested in pursuing clinical research trials, as well as connect them to other research experts and clinicians in southeast Michigan. Demi Wang is joining us for a summer internship. She is an incoming senior at Duke University and is pursuing degrees in biology, global health, and chemistry, along with a certificate in Markets and Management. Demi is passionate about healthcare and is interested in using innovation and technology to mitigate the inequities in healthcare systems around the world. During her internship, she hopes to increase the quality and accessibility of care as part of her work on a research guide that MedHealth will use to better direct med-tech companies to the right resources.
